MARPLE, Pa. — On Tuesday, Feb. 17, during Q-time at the Marple Campus, the Global Ambassadors hosted “Voices and Vibes,” a karaoke event in the Academic Building café. Created to celebrate Black History Month, the gathering drew a crowd of students and faculty who enjoyed an abundance of food and baked goods, including pizza, brownies, cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, and assorted candy.
Tables were draped in blue tablecloths and topped with bracelets, pencils, and stickers for students to take home. To conclude the event, Global Ambassador Vice President Williams Crawford led a round of the game “Heads Up!” featuring important figures in Black History.
Faculty and staff were among the first to arrive—including Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Danny M. Hoey—as music played and students gradually gathered. The Global Ambassadors kicked off the singing and dancing while encouraging others to join in.
The Global Ambassadors is a student organization that frequently collaborates with International Student Services. The group’s leadership includes President Camila Ochoa Daza, Vice President Williams Crawford, Secretary Titilope Ekundayo, and Public Relations Coordinator Victoria Nunes Da Mota, who noted that the ambassadors worked alongside International Student Services and Assistant Director Shennelle Richards for three weeks to plan the celebration.
Recently, the Global Ambassadors attended student orientation to get acquainted with new international students. The organization’s mission is to connect those students through events and advising to make their adjustment easier. Throughout the year, they hold multiple events specifically for international students as well as the broader DCCC student body. To stay informed about upcoming activities, the group recommends following the International Student Services Instagram account and regularly checking DCCC Engage for campus-wide events.
