MARPLE, Pa. – On Thursday, Jan. 22, the men’s basketball team celebrated their second-to-last home game of the season with a pep rally held in the STEM building lobby during Q-time. Students and faculty gathered wearing Phantom colors to wish the team luck in their game against Bucks County Community College.

During the rally, Director of Athletics Dwayne Saunders recognized the team and the hard work they have put in throughout the season. Dr. Danny M. Hoey, Vice President of Student Affairs, and President Marta Yera Cronin were in attendance and gave short speeches congratulating the team and expressing their appreciation for student-athletes at DCCC.

Hoey thanked Saunders for his leadership in athletics on and off the court, as well as his commitment to all student-athletes. Cronin noted her pride in how the players support each other on the court.

“If you give the passion that you give on the court to whatever your next goal is, you will no doubt be successful,” Cronin told the team.

The rally served as a celebration of a season marked by both community engagement and competitive growth. Earlier this month, on Jan. 11, six Phantoms players and the coaching staff conducted a skills clinic at Glenolden Elementary School for two dozen young athletes from the Glenolden Youth Club, sharing fundamentals of the game with the local community.

The Phantoms’ season has been defined by several standout individual moments on the hardwood. In a narrow 61-59 win over Williamson College of the Trades, freshman Asher Mansor proved his composure by sinking a decisive three-pointer just before the clock ran out. The team’s inside presence has also been a force, particularly during a victory against Passaic County Community College, where freshman Omar Warring controlled the paint with five offensive boards. Meanwhile, sophomore Jabree Martin has remained offensively dominant, headlined by an incredible 40-point showing in a matchup with Luzerne County Community College.

Saunders introduced each of the student athletes individually, specifically highlighting the sophomores on the team for their dedication since this is their final season as a Phantom. Saunders thanked everyone for coming to the pep rally to celebrate the men’s basketball team and expressed his own admiration for all student athletes: “We are proud of every single student athlete who has worn the Phantoms jersey and represented this program with pride during the 2025-2026 season.”
