MARPLE, Pa. – October 5, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Delaware County Community College hosted another community flea market. The campus was full of vendors who were set up throughout the school’s parking lots that were closed off. It was the fourth community market of the year, following previous gatherings that took place on April 27, June 1, and September 7.
Many of the regional vendors showcased what they had to offer, including handmade jewelry and vintage hidden gems, fresh produce stands, and a vast collection of home décor and antiques. The market offered much variety for the local community participants.
But the flea market was more than just a shopping experience—it was a fundraiser for the Rose Tree Media Optimist Club, whose motto, “Friend of Youth,” reflects its mission to support young people through scholarships, mentoring, and community service. Vendor booth fees helped fund the club’s youth programs, which include essay and speech competitions, sports leagues, safety education, and initiatives like park cleanups and food drives.
“By providing hope and a positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in youth, our communities, and ourselves,” reads a statement on the club’s website.
