If you live in the West Chester area and enjoy live music and concerts, then you are in for a treat. There is a new club in town.
The Note in West Chester is a bar, restaurant and music venue. It was opened in September 2008 by local television personality Brandon “Bam” Margera, the host of the MTV series, “Viva La Bam.”
Because The Note is a bar, some events may be restricted to the 21 and over crowd, but many events are listed as all ages.
Most of the bands playing at The Note are alternative rock bands from around the country. One of the earliest shows to take place the club was the reunion show of the popular West Chester rock group, CKY, which includes Margera’s brother Jess on drums.
The club has also scheduled other popular acts such as Cartel, a pop punk band from Georgia, and comedy rock group, the Bloodhound Gang, to play in the upcoming months.
International acts also come to play at The Note. British hard rock band Viking Skull filmed a concert they played back in January at the club and The Sounds, a Swedish new wave group, will be performing in May. Canadian punk rockers Sum 41 also intends to pay The Note a visit.
The Note also offers open- mic nights, which take place every Monday at 8 p.m., for only one dollar cover at the door.
As far as the sound system goes, The Note is spot on. The music can be heard clearly even if you are sitting in the bar/restaurant section or in the general admission area.
The location is easily accessible in downtown West Chester and there is plenty of parking space.
The Note boasts a bar upstairs and downstairs, along with a restaurant. The stage is located at the far end of the club on the lower level.
Club goers can enjoy the show in the general admission section, in front of the stage or sit at their tables and eat while they listen to the music.
The upstairs balcony has another bar and a nice sized seating area complete with couches and candlelit coffee tables, offering an excellent overhead view of the stage. It’s a relaxing spot to view the show, or just relax with friends instead of being down on the dance floor.
Food is served all night long until closing time. Appetizers range from $4.95 to $8.95 and include such meals as Spanish fries, grilled quesadillas, and potato skins. The main courses are primarily burgers and sandwiches. They are served until 11 p.m. and are relatively inexpensive with the “The Glutton” being the most expensive at $9.95. This is a combo meal of two burgers or sandwiches on grilled cheese.
